OCS version upgrade from 2.05 to 2.5.x

 Hi OCS support team,

We are using OCS for the past few years and we have many devices registered with it and OCS Inventory is handling the device management  ( the version we are using is 2.05) . Now we have planned to go for upgrade to 2.5.x.

To upgrade from 2.0.5 ( version we are using it ) to 2.5 ( latest version released by ocs inventory) following the sequence of upgrade

step 1) upgrade from 2.0.5 to 2.1.x 

Step 2)  2.1.x  to 2.2.

Step 3) 2.2.x to  2.3.x

Step 4) 2.3.x to  2.4 and then 2.5.

Outcome:

-  upgrade from 2.05 to 2.1.1 is successful

-  Upgrade from 2.1.x to 2.2 is having some issues due to some database fields are missing from the old version.  For example in the table accountinfo_config , new column added (default_value) which does not  exist in  older version (2.05/2.1.1) due to that ocs reports web console failed to retrieve data.

Can you please suggest the workaround  and other options? to upgrade from 2.05 to 2.5.x ( version to version) with db field changes and without any loss of data

Searching for multiple sofware shows nothing

Hello there,

if I'm searching for more than one software package at the same request I will get no result. But if I'm searching for the same packages in various requests I'll get all computers with the installed ones. Independendtly of wether computer who have the packages are the same.

Has anyone an idea how to make a request for all packages at the same time?

Hi Sokatra,

I tried it with AND and OR. AND doesn't work, just OR. But I need to know all software packages which are installed on the same computers.

How I said: If I make various requests on different packages I get all computers I need.

Upgrade to v2.5 - no data to accessible in OCS Web

Hello guys,

I'm facing issues after having upgraded my OCSInventory instance from 2.2.1 to 2.5 that there're no data visible/accessible via the webinterface.
There's only the navigation bar - trying to access for instance the computers or all software nothing will be displayed!?

If I access to the local database the data, tables, fields and values are available.

Currently I'm using
- PHP 5.4.45
- mysql  Ver 14.14 Distrib 5.5.54
- Apache/2.2.22

I did not find any errors in the activity.log - inventories are still getting transmitted!
Apache2 access log gets filled with data from the agent doing POST.

I'm really clueless and need help....

ok - which exact version to you use ? 2.5.0 ?

What you can try is the following.

Search for the first software - for example "kaspersky" - make a static group out of it

To the same for the second software.

Now search for computers which are in group1 AND group2 - perhaps this works as expected

Plugin not executed by httpd on v2.5 ocs-ng

Trying to setup "Plugin Vmware vCenter". on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 7.6 (Maipo)

All files are installed succesfuly:

unbelievable - i tried a search with version 2.5 in demo server

http://demo.ocsinventory-ng.org/

i searched with various criteria for computers with the following search criteria

All software: name Like office

AND

all software Like avira

But OCS returns Nothing - you are right - there must be a bug - can't believe it - i thought this bug is fixed a long time

LDAP login broke down after an upgrade to OCS 2.5

Hello!

I just upgraded OCS Inventory server to version 2.5, but after an upgrade if I try to log in with domain user, it says "User not registered". If I log in with admin account, then I can see domain users that have been registered before.

CONEX_LDAP_CHECK_FIELD_NAME is memberof.
I have tried to change it to comment, department and so on.

In apache error.log I can see lot of notices about duplicate entries:

Thank you for the bug report. BTW: I think there are problems with the other searching methods (bigger, lower ), too.

I'm really new in OCS and work with it for just a few weeks. So, let's give it a try.

I'm using the version 2.5.0 of OCS.

Can you tell me how to search for groups? I don't find anything in the wiki.

2.6 is like a beta - so  i can't recommend it - But you can update and try and find some more bugs if your server isn't very important

you have to hope that this bug will be fixed before releasing  2.6 stable

i would recommend to use adminer to search - but it isn't easy to find the exact sql statement

you can register to github and report bugs there.

i think many developers doesn't read on this forum

On OCS 2.5 installed on Ubuntu 18.04.1, the perl version is 5.26.1. Perhaps the perl cache handling on older versions has a problem?

It's a nuclear option, but you could backup your database and retry ocs server installation with newer version of perl.
