Windows server number of clients limitation, choice between unix server vs windows server.

Hi,

I tried Ocs a few years ago for a project validation in my enterprise.

A fiew years ago number of inventory were limited with windows server configuration.

I must decide between win server or unix server for a new project.

My manager's refracters to linux, and I'm a pro-GNU...

Is the number of stations scanned still limited during inventory?

Il y a quelques années, le nombre d'inventaires était limité avec un serveur Windows.

Je dois décider entre un serveur Windows et un serveur unix pour un nouveau projet.

Mon directeur est refractaire à linux, et je suis un pro-GNU ...

Le nombre de stations analysées est-il encore limité pendant l'inventaire?

Officepack Plugin - Server doesn't receive plugin data

Hi all,

Using OCS Server v2.3 on CentOS 6

Downloaded the Officepack v1.x plugin from https://github.com/PluginsOCSInventory-NG/officepack (also tried https://github.com/boiss007/officepack).

Dropped the .zip file into '/usr/share/ocsinventory-reports/ocsreports/download', browsed to the plugin manager GUI and installed without error.

Grabbed the agent plugin VBS script from: https://github.com/PluginsOCSInventory-NG/officepack/tree/master/agent (also tried https://github.com/boiss007/officepack/tree/master/agent).

Now, if we inspect the XML file generated by our agents, we can see the officepack data, so we assume it's being gathered and sent to the server, however, the corresponding "OFFICE LICENSES" section in the GUI is empty. Additionally if we inspect the database, the officepack table is empty as well.

So it looks like the agents are sending the gathered office data but the server isn't doing anything with it.

Can anyone help?

P.S. We tried the solution at http://ask.ocsinventory-ng.org/4289/officepack-in-ocs-server-2-2-problem-and-solution?show=4289 but it made no difference to us.

Configuration :
- ocs server on docker container latest image, installation as instructed on the docker official store page
- ocs agent on windows machine latest version

Ocsreports install is successful (database ocsweb is on another container but linking is good and working as intended). Agent sends correct data to the server. But there are a few problems :

- Any plugin whether offical (https://github.com/PluginsOCSInventory-NG) or that I made for testing purposes, is not installed correctly : plugin manager show Err_02. (Note : for all plugins .zip in download folder of the server, I did chown www-data:www-data so that apache was able to unzip, etc)

The plugin ocsweb database tables are created successfully, the vbscript on agent is working (tested with a local dump of xml file generated by agent). 

The XML data sent by agent looks good (plugin data is there) but the XML from the server (I looked it up by cliking on the machine name, then xml link) does not contain plugin data at all.

The plugin tables are therefore never completed with plugin data... And I get and nice "0 result" from my sql queries in Ocsreports

Here's what I did :

I lookep up Err_02 "Err_02 : Module transfer between ocsreports and ocsserver failed ( Can be a network related issue )"

This is not network issue since ocsreport and ocsserver are on same container.
On the help page of this error message (https://github.com/OCSInventory-NG/OCSInventory-ocsreports/wiki/Plugins-Engine-:-Web-service-error-codes) it is stated at the top : "To install the ocsserver part a webservice is used to send file and submit them to the server."

When checking apache error_log we can see : "ocsinventory-server: Can't load SOAP::Transport::HTTP* - Web service will be unavailable". The module IS installed (btw when I used setup.sh everything was fine...)

I tried to manually install the server part of the plugin (Map.pm / plugin.conf) but to no avail.
I tried to install Transport::HTTP but to no avail (Err_02 becomes "Err" and no number lol).

I need to know how to make SOAP::Transport::HTTP work or how to install plugin correctly manually.

Hi,

Results may differ with the use of lsb_release command. I think you have lsb_release command installed on many computers but not on all.

The 2 first haven't the "lsb_release" command but the last one yes. This is why you have a difference.

Bonjour,

Je suis utilisateur débutant dans la solution de gestion de parc "OCS/GLPI" que nous utilisons en standard.

Ma question est peut-être naïve mais, dans la mesure où cette solution a pour vocation de gérer un parc d'ordinateurs, est-il envisageable à travers cet outil de savoir quels sont les utilisateurs qui sont administrateurs de leurs postes compte tenu des informations brassées et remontées dans cet outil.

J'ai posé cette question dans le forum GLPI mais à priori on m'a indiqué que c'est dans ce forum qu'elle serait plus pertinente.

Existe-t-il un outil complémentaire à installer qui ne le serait pas par défaut ?

I found that most servers had lsb_release installed but a couple did not.

Here is the results from LSB_release -a from one reporting correctly.

Proxmox Server 1:

No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Debian
Description:    Debian GNU/Linux 8.7 (jessie)
Release:        8.7
Codename:       jessie

Proxmox Server 2:

LSB was not installed. I installed it and got this result from lsb_release -a same as with Server 1.

Codename:       jessie

I forced the server with the newly installed LSB_release to update to OCSNG and now the information it prints is correct.

The only issue left open is with ubuntu. Is the service pack not the 3rd set of digits in the version 16.04.2?

Bonjour,

Je confirme même erreur rencontré sur OCS Unix Server 2.3 j'ai migré sur 2.3.1 et j'avais toujours la même erreur j'ai exécuté la commande de Quentin et le problème a été réglé.

J'ai aussi le même message à l'ouverture de mon OCS (V2.3).

message indiquant : Le répertoire de LOGS n'est pas ouvert en écriture

où se situe ce répertoires, ou alors ou doit  il etre ajouté ?

Quel est son rôle ?

Version utilisée : OCS NG 2.3 sur serveur DEBIAN jessie

hi,

Try to access http://yourocsIP/ocsinventory . If the result show 400 bad request => your mod perl are configured ok.

Then move these files:

#mv /etc/apache2/conf-available/ocsinventory-reports.conf /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/

#mv /etc/apache2/conf-available/z-ocsinventory-server.conf /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/

Restart apache2 service

# /etc/init.d/apache2 restart

Hi everyone,

after upgrading my OCS server to the v2.3.1 on a Debian Jessie server, I cannot make any local import since the management console, I obtain the error "HTTP / 1.1 Error 400 Bad Request" while the agents inventories do well.

  • In the OCS activity.log, there is no error message.
  • In the Apache access.log, I found this :

Do you have any of this:

  • 'usbdevices' table in database;
  • mysql with enabled option 'enforce-gtid-consistency';
  • enabled ocs option 'TRACE_DELETED'?

Je suis charger de régler un problème de remonté d'inventaire OCS dans une structure possedant 150 postes clients. J'ai beau chercher je ne comprends pas le problème. j'ai constater du coté de ocsinvetory-log une erreur :

I have a lot of problems on my OCS server. The installation and configuration is wrong. Is it possible to reinstall the server and agents in my domain?

Hi, I have the same issue (related in a topic I've created today...) since upgrade OCS version to the latest (2.3.1).

Here is parts of logs files :

  • In the OCS activity.log, there is no error message.
  • In the Apache access.log, I found this :

Problems with dates on my plugin

I have developed an agent plugin that gets the last system update date from Windows computers. The problem is that although I collect the date and correctly generated the XML, the information is not correctly imported into the database. Any ideas on how to do it? Any help would save my life!!!

Aucun packages d'activation et visu sur les paquets (Console OCS)

Bonjour,

J'accède au répertoire download par http et https, mais dans la console d'administration je ne vois rien mais après la création d'un paquet, le tableau reste vide.Dans les paquets à activer, il y a rien.

Une idée ?
