General Questions about OCS and management/configuration

Hello All,

I was tasked with setting up OCS to collect and track all our assets. We're looking for something that can track things like computers, servers, network equipment, and even items that are not connected to the network like cell phones, monitors, etc. We want to be able to do this ideally without deploying an agent or other software to our devices.

Since we have other products for software inventory, performance monitoring, etc we want OCS to be used solely for just the tracking of the asset itself. So I guess my first question is, is this something that the software is designed to do?

All of the documentation I've read from the wiki seems to focus on deploying an agent once the server is setup but I don't see any methods of importing assets manually or via things like bar code readers for instance. If so, how do I go about doing this?

I have some other questions as well but want to first make sure that this will work for my needs. If anyone with more experience could help clarify this for me, I would certainly appreciate it.

Hello,

I need your help for a problem when importing local .ocs files!

I still have this error "HTTP / 1.1 Error 400 Bad Request" ...

I'm relying on OCS version 2.3.1 on an Ubuntu 16.04.3 server.

I tried several times on machines in different ways and impossible to arrive ...

I've been stuck for quite some time and I'm breaking my head on it. indecision

Pas de remontée machine dans OCS sur serveur distant

Bonjour,

J'ai installé sur un serveur distant OCS serveur, afin de pouvoir faire l'inventaire des parc informatique de mes clients.

J'installe don mon serveur, crée mon package d'installation client avec l'ip publique du serveur, et veut donc commencer le déploiement.

Après plusieurs tentatives, sur le poste client, toujours 2 messages d'erreurs :

"Service encounter error <Failed to load/parse last inventory state>"

Service encounter error <OCS Inventory NG Agent encounter an error (exit code is 4 => Failed to talk with Communication Server)>.

J'ai désactivé le pare-feu sur le serveur afin de savoir si ça ne venait pas de la. Toujours le même problème.

Si vous pouvez m'apporter une aide ce serait vraiment top car je suis à court d'idée.

It depend of the number of computer you want to inventory and wich feature you want to use.

Please be patient with me... I'm newbie in OCS and English is not my first language

I've just upgraded OCS Server from 2.0.1 to 2.3.1. All fine here!

Well now:

Your requirements still says PHP 4.3.2 or higher but http://php.net/manual/en/functions.anonymous.php says anonymous functions become available since 5.3.0.

Obviously I MUST upgrade my PHP installation... or NOT... Am I missing something?

Bonjour Franck,

Il n'y a rien dedans sauf la remontée classique d'une 404 Apache2, après une nouvelle installation j'ai maintenant une 403.

J'ai laissé tombé Ubuntu / Debian pour essayer sur une Centos, aucun soucis, ça marche direct (après conf Iptables et SE linux)

Egalement impossible de vous répondre alors je répond à moi même.

Hello,

  is there any way to integrate other systems - call a webservice or REST service when a computer entry is changed.

  I know there is a webservice available which can be used from the other server to get actual information. Has this webservice not changed since version 1 as described in WIKI?

OCS Agent Linux in OCS Inventory Windows?

Good evening im new with OCS Inventory , recently i installed OCS Inventory in Windows and added some Agents (Windows too) in the same place, i have computers with Linux and my question is the same, can i put the Agents in Linux for my Inventory in Windows? Thanks you.

All agent are compatible with the server if his major version is not superior to the server version. For exemple, the Unix agent version 2.0 or the windows agent 2.1 are compatible with serveur 2.1 but Unix agent 2.3 are not compatible with server 2.1.

We don't recommand to use windows as server : there is currently no more maintenance (some dependancies don't run anymore on windows) many security hole (openssl is in very old version) and bad performance. Think to run a server on linux.

Perl Apache Module Plugin

Bonjour,

Lorsque je place un fichier.conf dans /etc/ocsinventory-server/plugins

ex: /etc/ocsinventory-server/plugins/Networkshare.conf

et que je redémarre le service Apache2 : service apache2 restart , celui-ci ne veut pas démarrer. Je vais dans le fichier log :

Si j'enlève le fichier "Networkshare.conf", le serveur restart correctement.

Info serveur:

Serveur : Ubuntu 16.04 version 10.0.31-MariaDB-0ubuntu0.16.04.2

Serveur Web : Apache 2.4.18

PHP : 7.0.22

Ocsreports 2.3.1

Merci de m'aider, je suis complètement perdu.

Hello everyone, I'm David, :) I have installed ocs inventory server 2.2.1 on an Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS server and I am trying to add the Officepack 2.2.4 plugin but I have found that the directories are not the same. please help to know how to install this plugin to my ocs server installed.

 Any manual or tutorial to follow it?

WebGui show "Processing"

Hi at all,

i have installed OCS Inventory on my Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS machine with mysql and apache2, latest patches at all.

Everything is working fine, first inventory of a windows client shows "1 machine inventored today" in WebGUI.

But: i don't see any data anywhere? Whichever link inbetween the GUI i click, i always get a "Processing..." shown, nothing else?!

How can i see the data which have been inventored?

Hint: the windows log-file in ProgramData is showing "Inventory successful" and no errors at all.
